I am now thinking The coker classic bias ply Deluxe H78-15 3 inch WW. That is till some one points out something I have missed. Its ok. Its why I am on this site. To learn!

Thank you Fred. So Say 800-15 2 1/2 white wall? Or is 3 inch more appropriate?

Fantastic Vic! how wide are the WW on your car ? I was looking at the Coker L78- 15 3 inch WW for mine. They are $170.00 each but I feel they will set my car off nicely

No, that was on my previous futile search. Clicking on the blue "one" got me to the thread he mentioned. sadly at the moment I am more confused than before. Got to sign off, getting late. Work in the morning. will give it a go again then. Thanks for the help. Brian

After much down time, too much work, lack of motivation, ect, ect It is now time to purchase new tires for my 1951 "300" What size wide whites are appropriate for that year? Also pros and cons of Bias ply vs Radial. And Bias look Radials. Are radials safe to put on Packard wheels? I had heard some old cars have issues with radials. Ie breaking of the wheels. It will be quite an investment I can see. I am just not sure what way to go. Brian

yeah, its on the opposite side and faces the ground.and it is on a little flat spot. I think you are right. surprise! Mr Ross Miller called it a shock absorber and said it is a 1951 factory part. Mystery solved! thank you all! Brian
