Need some help with my new 1003
Home away from home
Home away from home

Dell
I have a new 1003 for my collection, saw the car again after a 30 year period of storage. I will get it in the registry when i get some pictures. I have several questions as 33's are hard to find, the car has two holes in the rear bumper in board of the guard. the owner has sean two other cars, one had what looked like aftermarket guards and the other was plugged with bolts. Any ideas? i thought it might be a support for the luggage rack if so would like to know what one looks like, also would love to have a good picture of what the courtesy light switch on the B pillar looks like. thanks for your help, what a great car, i can't wait to get it to my toy box. hi; last year i rebuilt the engine in my 526 and was surprized that the damper was not one piece, but three piece with springs and friction surfaces. you might be able to remove it in pieces. my engine was out of the car when i put it back together. would suggest just removing all 12 mounting bolts and jacking engine up if it does not come apart. i removed my engine in pieces, taking the crankcase out the bottom. putting the complete engine back in was a six man job-not fun. i also replaced the felt seal with a modern seal, however damper needs a little machine work. dell

it is not much fun to r and r the flywheel, you talked about the ring gear being replaced-if that started your nosecone fractures i would look for a used flywheel with a good gear. might also check the starter drive. which engine is it ?

hi howard; i have been following your ac efforts and your quest for the 6 volt clutch. fred mauck is a long time pi member that has a 53 i believe that he added air to, he has one of the under dash units and runs the 12 volt clutch on 6 volts and it seams to work fine the last time i saw the car. he is a great guy and i am sure he would be happy to talk to you owens king auto. i will pm his number if you want to give him a call.

loshar; have someone help u take off the hood (unlatch both sides) one man on each side and lift off. remove sheet metal cover in front of radiator, two 1/2 bolts from that side and one more under fender ( u might have to take off the park light door first) good luck. dell
