Asked my friend. Got the man's name and cell number for the cloisonne/champlevé wheel cover emblems. I'll make some inquiries and let y'all know how it goes.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

My driver sedan has a date next month at a show northeast of town a few miles. It's just nice to be back at shows after the (expletive deleted) Covid crap.

There's a 726 driver needing an interior on Marketplace for $25K, and I wager they'd take something in the high teens if confronted with a stack of Benjamins.

What I was told: The owner has had a bad stroke. Son is selling. The 1936 All-Weather cabriolet was purchased as a complete car. It is the one that was being restored. Engine done, but not completely put together (heads still off). The other three cars were apparently purchased in "already torn apart" condition. Perhaps as parts cars.

Individual prices on the cars:

1935 convertible sedan - $39k

1936 all weather cab $59k

1937 all weather cab -$35k

1938 club sedan- $8500

Extra parts shelves are separate.

So, $141500.00, presuming that I did my maths correctly. I didn't double check. Plus parts are extra. Truly a Mine Is Gold and Yours Is Lead scenario.

Sorry that the old guy likely sunk a chunk of change into these cars Way Back When, when it might look like he'd recoup his nut and maybe make something. That's a lot of wishing these days.

Were I to drop that amount of shekels (and it's out of the question anyway), I would buy the '34 12 banger club sedan on the Packard club website, if it's still available. It's an older restoration claiming to be well-maintained, which is the kind of thing that is right up my alley, and I like the body style better.

And then I would pray to Mecca five times a day and beseech Allah that nothing ever broke.

She would, but Fred prefers that her time in Packards be conducted while they are stationary.

Her last car ride was from the vet.

I may bid on a few of these. But as a guy who has had older cars for the past 40 years i have been noticing that young people dont want them. they want 60s and 70s. cars. And alot of the cars i have are starting to go backwards in value.I see cars all the time on websites that people inherit a nice old car they leave it sit outside till its almost junk and then try to sell it. In another 50 years i wonder how many will survive.

These are what my son calls "classics." One day, the CCCA will, too, in all likelihood, unless they want to go the way of the dodo. As for the rest of what whe know and love, who knows?

I do know that we won't be here to see it.

I used to ask my grandfather what some old car or another was worth.

His answer, almost invariably, would be, "whatever some damned fool will pay for it."

It wasn't much help for pricing, but it was 100% true.

My gut reaction was $20K, assuming that I don't have to pay anyone to haul all of it home. It's five trips anyway with a truck and trailer, and 3/4s of the way across the country at that.

If it's an ROI that you're looking for, you'd likely do as well stopping off in Vegas for an evening of blackjack.

Those cars are one huge pile of work.

I wonder what the seller has in mind for an offer. He has a number in there somewhere. Likely, my stuff is gold and yours is lead.

I wouldn't know where to begin . . . .

WCFB: 985. With starter switch.

The Carburetor Shop in MO has a rebuildable core with a rebuild kit for $600 = $50 s/h.

I suppose that it could hurt worse. That's about the price for a new Edelbrock.
