Re: Battery

Hello
I ended up buying a " Deka" battery

they are made in USA

I bought the "Deka" No. 664MF
620 CCA
11.5 x 6 3\8 x 8"
Weight 41.5000 Lb

Here in Cal the cost was $101.xx

$15 core return

I bought it at a Deka warehouse in Ontario Cal

I had called a company called Battery plus bulbs
who carry Duracell
they would not order me a group 60 battery, even though there
web page not only showed one but also priced it..
BTW Deka make some of the Duracell line of car batteries.
So you can guess that I will not be shopping at or recommending
"Batteries plus" to anyone.

Now an another subject can anyone give me a "place" to buy intake
manifold gasket for the 374.
And does anyone have specific info on removing the tail light housing
from the car? Even for Packard I would think it stupid to have to
move the rear bumper to get the housing out.

Also need lead on getting the small front fender script
(the four hundred)
best
Dave

have not decided on who to buy a kit from... It's one of those
items you hope you don't "need" to buy a second time soon.
I'm sure the 4GC kits from the other sellers are good..
I just want to know what parts are in the kit...
I have faith in my old filters,, If I'm wrong... oh well

thanks all. got if all worked out now... no tag on the Carb
but there is a small stamping
So just need to bleed the brakes and my 56 is back on the road..

I did a lot of reading on the 4GC today, checked out all the
rebuild kits... prices range from $48 to $75..

I remember a couple years ago I checked with NAPA about a rebuild
kit, price was $35, Today I looked I could not find a listing for a rebuild
kit... I'll check with Dave tomorrow at NAPA and see...

Need to tighten up the gear selector little sloppy
Will need new exhaust

Going to feel great to have her back on the road...
and I found my case of Purolator oil filters... I bought those way back
in the late 80's for $2.00 each...

Thanks again all

I changed my posting to reflect this..

I have done some reading and search for kits...
I found no tag or numbers on my carb...

I'll look at Daytona

Hello, Back again

I need to rebuild the Rochester 4GC in my 56 400

Does anyone have info about the different rebuild kits on the market
or Ebay? Are they really all the same no matter what the car brand
it was in?
Just took another look at the Carb, It says on the top of the bowl
4 Jet

Thanks guys, you just saved me time looking all over the net
none of my local auto parts store even list a Packard any longer...
NaPa does carry a rebuild kit for the Rochester Carb...
I was going replace the hoses to the PS, but then remembered I'm
going to try and install a hydo boost unit.. so the I'll wait until I get it
installed.. I hope
Thanks again guys..
Best

BTY, My car is a 56 400..
and the PS filter was original and does not look bad at all.. it is
not collapsed, shows no signs of any damage...

I think I should apologize for asking these questions, I just got lazy..
I have an original Packard Service Manual for the 55\56 Senior
I also have printed out a list of parts that Craig had put our from
his Panther project...
Thanks Craig
This morning I got my manual out and went through it and found
the info I was looking for...
I had taken the manual apart years ago to scan into my computer
so, it would always be easy to find info..
anyway Thanks to everyone who had input.
Best

OK, after my fight over a new Battery, I'm beat. So I'm asking
if any of you can provide me with the numbers for
upper and lower radiator hoses, power steering belt, generator belt
and a filter for the power steering unit...
I can not find a make on the unit, I think when I rebuilt the slave
cylinder that it was a monroe unit...

I checked Goodyear gator back V-belts they did not have any belts
listed..
Thanks
Best

OK, I have done hours of internet searches looking for the
correct battery. Yes I know I could use something else, but
sometimes you just have to go for it..
For those that don't know, the BCI groups batteries in
10's so a group 50, would go up to 59, a group 70 would go to 79
Group 60 is the same way..
Out of all the Brands I searched, and I'm not saying I searched every
brand, but those I did like Excide, Interstate, DieHard, Delco etc
only Motorcraft and Duracell make a battery that would fit the battery
tray almost to original.
the 56 (The 400 Hunderd) battery tray is 13 x 7" nominal
Motorcraft has a battery BXT64 12.28 x 6.23 x 8.83" and

Duracell is a SLI64 11.75 x 6.25 x 8.875"

I have yet to find a store that carries either on, and I live in
SoCal...
Thanks to all of you who had input
Best

I can not get the Registration page to render any input boxes. It just
sits there with a blank page and stares at me....
