The brake drums should go right on(I never had any make car give this problem),if the emergency brake is off and the brake shoe adjustment backed off. If you put a new emergency cable on or adjusted it without the drums on(adjust the brake shoes first),that's your problem. Do your drums have a lip on the outside edge worn in them? That might also be your problem. Also make sure the key doesn't get in the way. Are you lining the drum up with the key and key slot?

You may have to take up or loosen the floor board where it meets the fire wall bottom edge to get the switch through(out of car) I have a 1937 so it may or may not be the same, but I would bet its close. The heater may be close to where it goes through if so,if you loosen its mounting bolts it may be enough space.

Carpenters Classic Cars 20 Los Ranchitos Alamo,Ca. 94507 or 925-933-1486 probably can do your switch and replace the wire in it without wrecking the switch. I would have tried to do mine but didn't want to learn on and possibly destroy my switch. He does a great job at a very fair price.

If you would send me your mailing address I would be glad to send you photo copies of the process. The only way I know to do it is to remove the crank arm and housing assembly from the left side from below the car, after disconnecting the tie rod ends from the crank arm. You must remove both lower inner control arm pivots, which are bolted through the crank arm housing assembly, into the frame. There may be other ways to do it but I have never heard of any. My copies are from Packard friends(deceased)and Kevin Rice's(115c news letter)from the past.

The hook like object, isn't anything original by Packard . I don't know what it's intended purpose was. Was it a towing "J" hook that got lodged there? I have owned my 115c since 1954 and it never had anything like that on it and many that I got parts from, never had anything like that as well.

You can get a repro one by ordering the support bracket from David Moe(Packard Seattle Company)(7627-44th St.NE,Marysville,Wa.98270) 425-334-7754 evenings or 425-293-7709(an exact copy of an original)and the step plate from Max Merritt(you must drill and tap the step plate carefully)

Thanks for your help on the routing of lines and flex cables etc. I was left with boxes of parts, nuts, clamps and bolts and I wasn't the person who removed them, so it hard to get it right. This will sure help. I will register my conv. coupe ,when I get a good photo of it on line. I had my 115C since 1954 when I was 15 at the time.

I would like to get a good photo or photos of the firewall on the inside, without the covering on. I had the car taken apart and was handed all the clamps and ties in a box. I want to put all the clamps where they were originally. As to the speedo. cable clamps, the temp.tube clamps, shielded ign. switch clamps, emergency cable clamps and wiring harness routing,ETC.
I would be glad to buy the photos of the firewall of any 1937 115/120C original cars.
