Re: Okay, why is oil pressure going UP at idle and DOWN at speed??

LOL
If the oil level is too high, the crankshaft counterweights are beating air bubbles into the oil. During high rpm runs the oil is getting aerated faster. Once air bubbles are present in the circulating oil, the oil becomes "compressible" and the pump looses efficiency.

When you slow down, the air floats to the surface and the oil loses its compressibility and the pressure rises.

I'd try dropping the oil level 1 quart and do a short repeat just to see if it is the problem.

Seeking a sample mirror to copy
#78
Home away from home
Home away from home

LOL
Hi all,

I had an inquiry from a gent who was having his Packard restored and the restoration shop went out of business. He was barely able to get his car back through what he described as a very painful process. He did lose his mirrors and his hood ornament in the ordeal.

Would anyone have this mirror (please see picture) 'laying around' that I could borrow or rent for a fee to make this gent a copy for his car? I only need the figure not the mirror nor the base.

The mold process does not harm the original piece (it's a sort of silicone gel).

If you think you can help please feel free to call me at 618-304-0907 or email me at whiteglove@mail.com

Thank you in advance,
Crin

The frame is made of machined billet aluminum which has been triple chrome plated. The plaques with the marque name and slogan are etched zinc which have been painted and cleared using automotive paint.

This plate shows the Packard marque with the associated slogan but others are available, such as:

Noisy brakes until they warm up {36 std 8}
#80
Home away from home
Home away from home

LOL
Hi all,

I noticed as of late that my brakes make a really loud sound when I first apply them at relatively slow speeds (10 to 20 mph). Once I get going and apply them from higher speeds the noise goes away (although not completely). I changed the springs and the linings look OK (haven't really driven the car much since I changed the shoes - maybe 500 miles).

Just curious if anyone has had a similar experience and if there's a cure...

The braked were quiet when I first finished the restoration but that was some time ago.

Thanks in advance,
Crin
