Re: '51 300 Instrument Cluster Lights

My 49 23 series bulbs look like the same parts as this picture.I have at least one burned out. How does the metal piece that holds the bulb come out of the cluster? Twist, turn, or just pull out? They seem to be in there very solid.

Thanks for any help. You guys are the best!

Bob: I got mine from California Pontiac Restoration Parts (www.pontiacparts.net). They sell for about $58 plus shipping. It sure makes night driving a pleasure!

My car is a Deluxe Eight(23 series) and has the same interior material as J.R.'s ( stripes). The deluxe has the fold down arm rest on the rear seat as shown in J. R.'s photo. The deluxe also has a trip odometer.

Buzz: Congrats on your new acquisition. I have the same model in Maroon and look forward to your restoration. It is a wonderful car to own, drive and enjoy. It that a Marvel Oiler next to the wiper motor? One suggestion: I added a second hood prop for the other side so I can open either side of the hood without having to flip the prop back over. Should be easy to find one, I think Motor City Packards sells them and the cost is very reasonable.

Can You Identify this Packard

I recently found these pictures of my Grandfather's funeral home in River Rouge, Michigan, My dad looks to be about 13 years old so I think the pictures were from about 1929 or so. I can tell from the wheel cap that the car is a Packard, but can anyone identify the year and model?

Mine is not chrome in the center, maybe they just painted the metal and that is why the center looks different from the side pieces. thanks for the pictures, HH. If you are still interested I could send you the Battery Brain III. I've used some of the parts for the set-up I have now but you could try it out, its for 6 volt and I didn't have very good luck with poitive ground. I probably invested a $100 or so. its not doing any good siting on my work bench. e-amil me Paul

HH; that looks like the part, There is a center section that joins it together that appears to be fiberglass or something like it. The stamping is very light and is on the outside of the piece that connects to the drip rail (at the bottom of your picture).

After owning my 23 series Deluxe Eight for 3 years now, I finally found some stampings on the sun visor. it says:

CASCO
Bridgeport, Conn

Is this an original Packard accessory or an after market part like Fulton or maybe J.C. Whitney?
