Right. My mind had wandered elsewhere. Thank you.

I might reconsider on the walkboard, however.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

What?

Wat has extension ladders and, mercifully, no need for a walkboard.

Russian literature is written for people who have to stay indoors 6 months out of the year to keep from freezing to death. A short version of that freezing thing would be Jack London's To Build A Fire.

Coldest winter I ever spent is the one maybe 12 or 13 years ago when I read The Gulag Archipelago in its entirety. The best part is where the author describes my birthday and the women mixing concrete on the sidewalk and toting it to the forth floor (stairs) all the while talking about Sputnik I. "It flies!" "Yes, it does fly." Which explains how the 180 got to be the ZIS.

I have some nominees for Gulag stints.

This winter, in between reading all kinds of Packard stuff, I'm reading about Stalingrad.

Ordered a set of the "positive ground" LED bulbs for Fred's new ride. Got the back lights done in the waning sunlight. I was testing them and they didn't work, and then it dawned on me, the sockets have to be reinstalled in the housings to create a ground. Felt kinda st000pid but took pleasure in deducing the issue. How does the new crap work with all of its plasticity? Probably witchcraft.

Took Mom to brunch late this morning in Fred (actually, Black Fred Sedan II). They had not met. She complemented Fred on its lack o' noise.

Speaking of, changed the oil in Petunia, the newish truck/tow vehicle. First time, and it took a hunk out of my right forearm. The oil filter is hiding behind the front end drive bits for the 4WD, which I doubt that I'll use much at all, if ever. Trying buying a big truck without it.

I have a cat tree to assemble for Fred's sister, Ethyl. She'll love it.

Somewhere out there is (or should be) an Old Car Buyer's Bingo card for rating ads, including key catch phrases that appear in some of this (dreck) copy we are exposed to. If we can't find a card, then we should consider making one.

"Barn Find"
"Classic"
"Easy restoration"

Just to name a few.

But wait, on the '28, he did include the proper price multiplier term" "Barn Find." Now, how could you lot have overlooked that? "Barn Find" means "dig deep."

I think that there's a 343 sedan *term avoided* for around $20K somewhere in NW GA, which price makes a lot more sense. And yet it was still sitting last I saw it.

Our kids won't pay these prices for these cars when the day comes, and then where will they be? The cars, not the kids.

Wat,

I read recently that a WIX 87055 element will fit perfectly on a 47?

Thank you. I cannot find a K&N match.

Yet . . . .

I am experimenting with a K&N aftermarket air filter arrangement on my '46 Deluxe. According to my research, they flow more filtered air than any of the others. For cars that accelerate like anvils, they need all the help that they can get. Plus, it can be serviced so it's a lifetime filter.

I'll keep after it to see if they make an element to replace what's inside the oil bath.
