Not surprised that '47 Clipper went so quickly......very low price for a running 8 cylinder car if it is indeed a rust free (which I guess you would expect in Tucson).

Wat, I think you underestimate Fred, she already knew about this car before you did.

I beg your pardon, Kind Sir, as you seem to (mis)underestimate me. I would never doubt Miss Fred. One cat or another has run my life for decades now.

Fred Story: the landlady (where the cars and Fred live) has a VRBO rental house up front near the hay house where the cars are and where Fred spends most of her time, we think. The people who post reviews of the house and accommodations have almost always mentioned Fred and what a good ambassador she is. So between this website and that one, she is becoming quite the internet sensation.

If that car had good floors (and a trunk floor, be still my beating heart), then it was offered at a damn fine price. No wonder it went quickly.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Nice pictures - post is deleted by author. Tucson - might be a good body. Long haul, tho'.

I won't tell Fred.

The '53 doesn't need a home, it is a home. Never seen a car for sale before where the buyer might have to evict the tenants. And spray for bedbugs.

Regarding the 120's asking price and the estimated restored value (and I use the term loosely), does "optimistic" mean "delusional?"

Asking for a friend . . . .

Decent looking car but the price seems high for a six. I bet that Fred will turn her nose up at this one for the same reason - she seems like more of an 8-cylinder girl.

Best laugh of the week, but it is only Tuesday. Yes, Fred lost interest quickly. Not sure which is worse, the price or the floor cancer. She scored two 6-banger Clipper coupe sixes for half this fee when she was still a kitten, and one of them has solid floors.

And yes, she is a cylinder snob, even is she does jump on the fenders and misjudge and slides back off.

In spite of the disparaging comments about hot rods, hot rodders and hot rodding in general, I have to give a lot - not all, but many - of those guys credit. Much of what they build, they build from piles of Ferrous Oxide that many people would have hauled off. Whereas they may not always craft works of art, the fact that they display such ingenuity and tenacity is impressive. I applaud their commitment.

I think a lot of the need and/or desire to modify one's old car has to do with what one intends to use it for. The closer it is to being a trailer queen, the more original it can and should be. The closer it gets to being a daily driver, then considering upgrades is nothing short of logical.

Your car, new or old, is yours, and how you use it is your decision. So is what you do with/to it.

Okay. Hope they can arrange shipping, like UPS or the like for odds and ends. Big lots I can see should be picked up. It's a crappy time of year for FOB pick-ups near the Canuckistan border.

Wonder if there are any long Clipper fenders . . . .

I have one word to say about the whole disc versus drum fussing: puddles. I hate cars that change lanes by themselves because half the brakes flooded out.

And at the end of the day, it's 'Murrika and people get to do what they want with their stuff, including their old cars, classic or otherwise. I'm not a fan of the tuner kids or the hoopdie guys, but they're Car Guys and they're doing Car Stuff, and I can support that. That includes Chebbie engines, disc brakes and chopped tops. Not a fan, but it is what it is.

Besdies, there are better things to fight about, like religion and politix . . . .

Yeah, that would be my guess, too, and more affordable than they've been in awhile. A lot of those six digit cars seem to be edging toward dropping one of them.

I have too damned much to do to think about dying anytime soon.
