My apologies for not being clear in supporting a value that hovers around $100k for this car and that Liveauctioneers is an alternative to the auto-only auction houses as a way to reach a wealthy audience. By way of example they recently sold a $150k+ Packard.

https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/147739949_1934-packard-twelve-1107-dietrich-convertible-sedan

This car around St Patrick’s day sold for $150k (seller) plus $30k (auction house) buyers premium. Bidding started at $30k and went to $150k in about 12 minutes.

Liveauctioneers does not specialize in cars like the unusual suspects who do, but attracts wealthy bidders in general.

You may not like the color, but you’d be king of the mountain on St Paddy’s day.

The car looks beautiful. I think West is right. You’ve basically inherited a $100k car. More if interior and running gear are primo condition and less if they need work.
Title and registration documents are very important. Finding whatever you can about the history of the car helps. I’ve yet to see a 160 converted from a 120. One would have to convert so much of the equipment starting with a 356 engine and transmission, bumpers grille and other costly trim, it wouldn’t be close to worth it. Early 160s and 120s shared a lot of the same door handles so people get confused. But replacing the dash alone doesn’t begin to make sense. Just know it’s a pet peev of mine that was discussed at length on this site some years ago.
A $500 appraisal might help you sleep better having a better assessment, but bad things happen at auctions, too. A ‘40 160 1377 (Conv sedan) identical to mine with no reserve went for $50k in AZ maybe 10 years ago. That was theft, but it’s how the auction game is played. You could advertise it in Hemmings motor news, in Packards International magazine and in the Packard Club PAC newsletter. The season for enjoying a car like yours is just starting. The PAC NATIONAL MEET is in California this June. Your car is perfect for touring and especially for parades. Are you sure you want to sell it? Good luck!
But what a wonderful gift.

I used Passport Transport. They advertise in Packard magazines. Picked up my car at home in Oregon, the same driver delivered my car in Maryland the day after I arrived there myself. $2400. Prob higher now than in 2020. My car never left its position in that van. My problem with uShip was passing my car from one truck and truck driver to another.

There are vendors with complete harnesses for your car such as Potomac Packards and Harnesses Unlimited, and others.

So relieved I wasn’t so stupid as to not be able to select a recipient and send a PM. That leaves a vast area unjudged, but one less stupidity is a comfort.

The one that fooled me was the contact in my overdrive relay was stuck together, cutting ignition to the distributor. If you have overdrive, disconnect the wire from the overdrive relay that goes to the low tension terminal on the side of the distributor.
Alternatively you could take the cover off the OF relay and give the contacts a tweak.
Then try starting again.

Dyslexia strikes again. I just realized you are asking about the rear (trunk) LICENSE light. On a 40 160 it's buried in the handle, unless the car has a trunk rack, then it goes in a larger fixture to hold the license and light ithigh up on the trunk lid.

My '40 is not right, so this may not help. There's sone kind of cover plate missing, but the holder may be right. Thing is, it doesn't put out much light.

What I did was buy a pack of these. They are closet lights. Cheap. Magnetic (they give you a metal disk that sticks on one side, so I could put one in my glove box) so you can easily remove them for charging, LED, rechargeable, and motion sensitive. They come on when you open the door and go off 20 sec after you close it. They have a remote control, too. Much brighter.

The pm system doesn’t work for me. No place to put in recipient. I’m receiving pm but not able to send except by finding an old email to the person I want to contact and doing a reply. What am I doing wrong? Obviously don’t know how to pm you.
