Are you talking about the little tube? If so, that was added when cars with these carburetors experienced stalling when when going around a corner in one direction. There is something in one of the Service Counselors about it and Packard supplied a kit for fixing it.

Hi Don,

I'm actually referring to those round aluminum inserts in the top two venturis. Each venturi has one. They don't look factory.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the quick reply!

Now I can sleep better knowing that I'm not missing something incredibly important.

Thanks again!

Hello all!

What is the purpose of this part on the outlet side of the fuel pump?

It's missing from my FP and is blocked off with a pipe plug.

Thank you,
-Chris

WCFB Carburetor Venturi inserts?

Hello all!

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my WCFB and I found something that doesn't look right to me.

On the secondary side of the carb, the venturi's have some kind of reduction inserts installed. I've never seen these before so I don't know what to make of them. They don't appear to show up on the WCFB exploded diagram either.

Does anyone know what these are?

Thank you,

-Chris

Hey bkazmer!

Thanks for reaching out. Like HH56 already pointed out, your mirror is a little too early. Thank you though.

Hey HH56!

Thanks for the reply. You are correct in that this mirror is on a 53. I appreciate you letting me know what years these were offered. It should help me in finding another one.

Thank you all for the help.

Ross, that is exactly the answer I was looking for. I couldn't remember how it all went back together but you're right. The areas that need to be sealed are inside of the drum assembly. I'll just end up using a little bit of grey RTV for those areas.

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate all the help.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

The only things that concerns me about a RTV style gasket on the rear end is the shimming of the axle setup. I know you're supposed to have a certain amount of runoff for the axles using the shims. If the rtv is thinner or thicker than the factory paper gaskets won't that mess with things?

Thank you,

-Chris
