I shouldn't have thrown out the old MC including the cap.

I haven't been able to get the brakes to harden-up correctly. I installed a new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines and brake hoses. It seems to harden up but its right at the floor. I've had my son call-out when to open/close when he's pumping. I'm about to disconnect all brake lines, plug them with inverted flare plugs and see how the master acts alone. I'll then add back individual wheels and test the master with that wheel only, 4 times.

If there is a check valve, how does the pressure release when the pedal is released?

Can anyone give me a link to a pressurized brake bleeder for my 1951 200?

I see that Max Merritt has the correct switch. Do you have or know where I can find a photo of this mounted?

I found a park/neutral inter-lock switch for a 54 car's starter. Will this fit a 51? Is there a service bulletin for this? 1954 Packard Neutral Safety Switch 455702

On 6/22 Ross said:

"As to the throttle linkage adjustment: for a first whack make sure the carb is off the fast idle cam and is idling slowly. Turn it off, get under and loosen the clamp screw on the throttle link on the trans. With a right angle screwdriver turn the throttle shaft ccw til it stops, then bring it cw just a hair so it is not resting on its stop. Tighten the clamp and try it."

You must be saying that the end of the shaft has a split in it to accept a right angle screwdriver. Would my '51 200 Ultramatic have this split?

I do not have tool PU-364. I will make one. What is the height of the cross shaft lever above the head?

HH56. I will restore the spring. I believe the shaft was stuck in the open position since there was no spring.

I have the "Packard Serviceman's Training Book". What other service manuals are available and from where?

BTW, where can I get a tach? Also, I assume the flash I'm getting from my 12V inductive timing light should be true.

My heat riser now operates freely. The split in the end of the shaft is at about 1 o'clock when I lift the counter weight. When I release it, it travels to about 3 o'clock and bounces slightly. There is no spring. In the absence of a spring, is the heat riser not in the warm position? This would correspond to the spring being extended due to being at operating temperature. Why would this need to be wired in place?
