What are you doing for your car this year?

For mine, a new rear main seal, speedo cable, rear wheel bearings, rebushing the stabilizer.
Rechromed front bumper/dagmars/lower grill. If I have anything left, new headkiner, windlace and package shelf. If I still have money left, I may actually get to drive it...

Go to Ebay and, under advanced search, click on completed auctions. then you can look at results from about the last month and see what sold and for how much.
Take a good look at what didn't sell; there are still a number of fantasies going about price. Chances are that you will or should spend money on your "new" car to know the condition of it, to be sure it was recently lubed and is well lubed, filters are clean, fluids are full....

Got it!
Stabilizer and show all results did it! Again--or as always--thanks so much.

Large thank yous to all!
Blew right by the illustration in the parts book!!!!! If I recall earlier remarks, the new bolts should be grade 8 and there was something about grinding the heads a bit for clearance. Will now use my new search skills to hone in on previous comments!

Bushings are here and the weather is up to 60 degrees soon. Maybe on that last bit.
I know that in the past we have discussed removal and rebushing of the rear sway bars...and I can't find anything that relates to that. No pictures in the parts image book. Nothing at all in the shop manual. Search of site under sway bar doesn't find it. If you can direct me, I would very much appreciate it; if you can post pictures that would be wonderful. I'd appreciate knowing how you found it; I don't seem to write a good search. Thank you!

I find it fascinating that you tour alone and find it so fulfilling. I like to go with an old friend or two that appreciate the ride. That way there is someone else to walk in the event of trouble.....
My wife is awfully good sport about touring, but it just isn't the same with her.

As was pointed out, beware of interference with the fender on tight turns. My car has these, and has 4 ring links (which were not installed when the avatar snap was taken) and now sits at the correct height....but the fronts do rub on tight turns, especially when bumping up a bit going on a private driveway. Were I to do it over, I'd spend more time looking at 225s. 235s were a response to 8.20 x15, but OEM on senior cars was 8.00 x 15 if memory serves. I do remember my first Packard (in 1959) had 8.20s on it FWIW.... I don't think the weight capacity is anywhere near being taxed. This car came with Cokers. haven't had any problems, but would probably use something else to replace with. Comments when showing/touring seem to dislike Cokers (again, FWIW).

I worry about the lack of zinc in my BMW and tend to look for oil with higher content of ZDDP because the valve spring pressure are pretty high but on an old flat head with low camshaft lobe profiles and low spring pressures it probably is not a concern. What about V-8s, particularly 56s with 10:1 compression (or is that irrelevant here?).

Re: If you were to overhaul your engine...

Pat, it depends entirely on what you find on disassembly, inspection and measurement of all the components and critical tolerances, and on how much you want "new engine" performance and longevity and how much you're willing to spend to get that. Of course. Guys in the club discuss it from time to time and the answers are usually different and predominantly frugal. Therein lies the problem as far as I can see. Let me rephrase the question: what would you do, and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the ultimate overhaul, how would you rank what you would do? Put another way, what's cheap and what's prudent?
