Where is the heater hose inlet on the 352 block?

I have a 48 Custom 8 and just recently bought a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk with the Packard 352. The car came from Puerto Rico and since they don't need heat there, they disconnected the heat system. I see a capped hose fitting on the back of the water pump casing. I assume this is the heater return line. Where is the inlet fitting in the block? The back of the block is real hard to see, but even with a flashlight I don't see anything. Also, the Golden Hawk uses what they call a climatizer which essentially is a heater core that sits under the passenger seat. Any ideas on how this is piped? The climatizer is still there.

Thanks for the e-Bay tip Clipper 47. I just bought the heat shield for my 48 Custom 8 Club Sedan.

I have been attempting to remove the water distribution tube to address engine cooling problems on my 1948 356. The tube is not budging! Any ideas for tools, lubricants etc?

Thank you HH56! Those pics are fantastic. Especially like the ones with digital calipers. You've given me a great starting place.

Thanks for the response! My car has already been converted to 12 volt. If you have dimemsions on workable replacement pulleys I could make one as I work in a machine shop.

Interested in knowing if anyone has tried installing aftermarket AC on this motor. With all that room under the hood it should be doable?

Thanks for the pic, 49Packard

It's a magnificent car. I'm sure mine will look great one day, just a little shorter.

Yes, Owen, you are correct. The Brigg's Body Number plate states 2255-2711. I think I had a problem initially reading my own chicken scratch.

Thanks for the info. I knew the car was rare, but didn't realize just how rare it is.

BigKev,

When I found this site I eagerly looked through that Sales Brochure for a pic of my car. The Custom 8 convertible is shown, but not the Custom 8 Club Sedan.

JD

Thanks for the timing info. I will add it to my checklist.

This site is fabulous! I never dreamed my question would generate this many responses. There is a lot of info to digest.

Here are answers to confirm or deny authenticty of the car. The car has a 127" wheelbase (as physically measured), it has the egg crate lower grill and tail-light treatment as well as eggcrate inserts for the upper grill; it has the comorant for the nose of the hood (not installed). The car has the twin lower trim holes plus the stainless to go with it (not installed except for fender skirt).

Here are the car's numbers:

right side cowl 8565I4 large embossed letters
2258-2711 small plate (body number)

left side cowl 2255-9-2723 PACKARD PLATE

Motor # 8897723356

If anyone can authenticate the car with this info please let me know. Also anyone having historical info on car would be greatly appreciated.
