Actually, '37 to '52 would do nicely.

Sorry guys,
I didn't proof read my OP.

Somewhat new to Packard, and confused by Series and model years.
What I really want is a breakdown from say, about 1967 onward, how is each new model grouped?
IOW, model from 1936 to 1940 are similar, sheet metal, suspensions and engines?
The what is the next group of similar model years?

If I am looking for a 1949, what other years are basically the same?

Please include junior, as well as senior models. I am just trying to get my head around all this information.

Thanks.

A spreadsheet might be one way to present this data...maybe it already exists.

OK, so its just a matter of model years not signifying real changes---the changes are in the "series" ?
Thanks---I think I understand---doesn't mean it is not confusing to a new-comer.

Can someone give an easy explanation for the "Series" designation, and why did Packard not simply use Model years?

Thanks

I prefer to describe the acceleration as "Stately".

I congratulate you on your endeavor, and look forward to watching your progress.
I am semi-retired,and after the current project is back together ( 1982 Mercedes 300SD), I will be looking for that next project. I would love a prewar Packard; even a 110 six, although a 120 would be preferred. I would be happy to find one similar to your project--at least you don't have to undo a lot of incorrect work, or pay for a shiny paint job that someone applied over a poorly prepped surface that you'd have to remove anyway-- Its a good honest project car--no pretense, just honest.

Thanks to all. Now, I just need to finish the garage (drywall, paint, heat) and the other project ahead of the Packard......time, time time.

How to rate car's condition

I think we are all familiar with the #1-#6 rating system, but cars I see rarely fit into such neat categories.
I am looking at a '49 Super Delux, Overdrive. Complete car, engine runs and drives, but needs everything. Could be driven "as-is" , but I wouldn't until replacing the entire brake system. Is this still a solid #5, or would you rate it closer to a # 4 1/2? Seller wants $3000 and will deliver it ( about 100 miles) to my location.
What do you all think?
