37 120 front suspension

I am rebuilding my 37 120 front suspension. I pressed in new kink pi. Bushings and roller bearings. The problem I am having is trying to put in the Welch plugs over the bushings and bearings. The plugs are 1.310 and the bore is peened over to 1.265 on the suspension parts. Is there a trick to installing these plugs? Was I supposed to grind out the peened over metal?

Thank you,
Willie

Nice work! I'll have to try that evaporust, there is plenty of rust on my car. You could polish that main shaft by wrapping a strip of 2000 grit sand paper around it. I guess the Packard transmissions are great. Some guys swap them into there non packards because they shift nice and are heavy duty

I sacrificed a box end wrench for that universal nut. I ground it down thinner to fit in there.

So you recommend removing the channels and getting a gluein style weatherstrip? I tried to post a picture but it wouldn't load

Thank you,
Willie

Hi I am restoring a 1937 Packard 120 sedan and some of the door weather strip channels are rusted out. Is there any of these available? I work in a machine shop and could make tooling to make them if not. Or are they using a glue in style now?

Thank you,
Willie

I will pass then since most parts will not fit. If anyone wants it its on Seattle Craigslist, search for packard front clip. He has more 110 parts too.

Thanks,
Willie

it is just the front axle drum to drum with suspension for sale. There is no sheet metal.

Hi Guys, I am restoring a 1937 Packard 120 sedan. I found a front clip from a 1938 Packard 110 for cheap. Is this worth buying for parts? I'm not sure if they changed things.

Thank you,
Willie
