Exhaust studs on one head. Look at the bolts on the right!. So little rust!!! Incredible!! I had a sucess with these. No oil used for extraction. (Now don't start yelling at me about oh you should have used it. They came out like butter!!)

Naturally an engine stuck in the same spot forty+ years will uh might freeze in place. Here we have a open stuck valve (but its the only one open)

Broke loose the spark plugs and sprayed penetrating oil to ensure smooth extraction (all 8 a success!)

Okay progress report. Heads have been pulled. Like what I see. Rocker arm shaft on one was cracked, but its safe and sound in the machine shop to be duplicated.

Yea I can get a sample of the paint to Bill. Actually some of it came off the front timing cover. The front end was covered in grease so when I pulled the grease off the paint peeled away with it! So we would have an accurate, not faded color great for copying I'm sure! Since we are talking electrical check out the battery I pulled from this time capsule! Eldorado series!
BTW Randy those plug wires are ribbed at the bottom- I think 4 or 5 ribbed at the spark plug end. I will most definitely get better pictures up and pictures of the spark plugs. Who knows if those are original too. They are branded "Champion" after all so there you go!

Wow! Lots of info guys thanks!! Okay my bad about the color; I'd thought I was missing something. And these could be original spark plug wires. This car is showing 53,000 miles and tags expired in 1966. So who knows!
Again thanks for your guys info. Look forward to more of it!

Okay engine and tranny pulled at same time. Lots of fun! Had to remove heater box (shown) to get enough lift to pull them out. Lucky there still is color on the engine. I'd thought that this would be a bronze colored engine, but much to my surprise (or stupidity not sure if I goofed up on my research) but its a metallic green! (also shown) Can't wait to pry the relic open and see what kinds of things wait for me
