327 Oil galley plug?

I'm putting together my '52 327 that I've dragged my feet on for a few years. I had all the machine work done on the block and some cracks fixed. Purchased a rebuild kit from Kanter and figured I should get on with it so I can enjoy the car again. My question is next to the cam thrust plate there is an oil galley hole that feeds the tappets that is open. What goes in it? Its not threaded like the other holes so does it take a welsh (freeze plug)?

I did hook it up and cycle it slowly with no results on the gauge. Also checked it on the spare cluster with no results. I'll do more research on it. Thanks for the leads.

48-50 Fuel Sending Unit Question

So last week I had a wee bit of fuel leaking from the tank bottom and decided to pull it out and weld it shut. The tank was cleaned out years ago and is still very clean. The leak was coming from where the suction tube support was spot welded to the bottom of the tank..... drained gas, filled with dry ice* and then welded it up.
I thought I would try to get the sending unit working but it seems to be all over the place when I check the resistance with the meter. Has anyone rebuilt one of these units and if so what parts fail? I popped off the top cover and everything "looks" good with no corrosion. I'm sure I could buy a rebuilt one, but whats the fun in that?

*Disclaimer do not weld on or take a torch to a gas tank (empty or full) take it to a professional or you risk personal injury and or death. Just because one thing works for one person does not mean it will work for you. You have been warned! I'm sure most people know this but I don't want to hear about some kid who stumbled to this site blowing his cheeks off when the tank blows up.

Funny you brought this up. I went outside this morning to go to work and saw gas leaking from my tank too. Good thing there is only a gallon or so of gas in it. I'm going to try to patch it because I don't know of anywhere that sells re-pop 48-50 tanks.

Well I managed to get it all installed and then it became obvious that I don't have the 1/2"x24 nut that secures it to the roof. It seems that it's an obsolete nut and so far I've had no luck finding one... or even a tap so I could make it.

Here is one from a Ford that looks similar to the one we have. Seems to be more elusive of an item than I thought it would be. Is there a patent number on it? Might be able to find a diagram of it through a patent search.

Since most of my cars parts came dumped in boxes the parts picture plates have been very helpful in putting it all back together. I've looked all over the place for a exploded picture of the antenna assembly, but can't seem to turn one up. I think I have all the parts but would like to see what it's supposed to look like assembled from the interior of the car.
