overdrive question

does anyone know what I need to do?
I have my overdrive locked out and tied off to stay that way, but I can only drive in reverse if I try to go forward it just makes loud grinding noises.

what I need to know is what do I need to do to make it work as a regular trans ? the wiring is all to hell and messed with from previous owners so what do I need to do to bypass everything.

thanks

I've been trying some of the test on it that HH56 has told me but I'm extremely limited on what I can do until I sell this Mustang taking up half my garage.
But I'm pretty sure all my problems are coming from the R9 unit.
I'd like to have the extra trans for when I pull mine out but don't think I can afford it and the shipping.

Flackmaster, do you know the internal condition of the trans and R9?
Also what would that cost?

HH56, thanks for the info, yeah I found out there was a difference last night when I found the blown one and nothing I had would fit LOL. The good thing is it had the right one in there so it was easy to match up and I got lucky it was the last pack of them they had.

I installed the fuse tonight and it didn't blow so that's a good sign!! I'm assuming its working right I'm going road test it when all this rain stops. I have power coming in on one side and when a put it in reverse power comes through the other terminal.

Well I've gotten a little work done on her, been trying to figure out this damn OD. Got underneath and disconnected the OD cable and was able to lock it in and tie back and is working a lot better. The cable is corroded together so gonna try a soak it free.
A big thanks to Dell for rebuilding a OD lockout switch so I installed that but just to find a blown fuse so gonna get some fuses today and get that finished up.

yeah Fhantom works is a great show and they do amazing work to the cars they do and its done right. That Camaro was horrible the guy was the original owner of the car and had some guys moving the car and they told him they could restore and sup up the car for $50k and the only thing that was done right was the paint job. That car was extremely dangerous to be driven down the street

Thank you so much.
This is all very helpful and I'm sad to say I have a feeling my OD is bad.

Thank you guys, what level of difficulty would it be to rebuild this myself? I'm very mechanically inclined but have never tried rebuilding a transmission.
