disassembed views of my filter. And pics of another BR filter from a post on AACA.org
I agree that it should be brazed. One challenge will be to ensure the inlet pipe is kept straight while brazing. I have a couple ideas on how to drill and hold the alignment. An alternative is to buy one of the R-A L-6 filter conversions ($575 ! ) Attach file: IMG_2264.JPG (4,605.89 KB) IMG_2262.JPG (4,357.79 KB) post-51036-143141817358.jpg (152.49 KB) post-51036-143141817352.jpg (150.64 KB) post-51036-143141817346.jpg (131.26 KB) post-51036-143141817376.jpg (269.95 KB)

Burr Ripley L6 filter - how to modify inside filter

Does anyone have information how to modify the NAPA filter to add the fitting on the outer casing? drill hole and solder fitting? I would like to prepare a second/spare filter before I disassemble the existing filter by heating and melting the solder; just so I retain the existing to bolt back on in case something goes awry.
I assume no one has taken up the Ripley business. And the size of the o-ring on the outlet fitting. The filter was last changed in 2013, apparently, on my 34 ll04 THANKS Darrell (I need to change my ID from DWS1003 to DWS1104andNeedToSellMy1003 )

+1 for Olsons Gaskets
I just ordered a full engine gasket set (instead of just a few that I need now - it's only money) for my 34 1104 Super Eight. The set came in a few days and all gaskets appear fresh and new.

The manuals state to clean the air cleaner on my 33 and 34 Suber 8's to dip and rinse them in gasoline. Fast forward to the 21st century... What do you use to clean the air cleaner on these cars?

Do you have a link to Bruce's list and site? I will send him a message as well.

I seem to have lost one of my horn trumpet screens. Does anyone know of a source for a replacement? It has a convex shape.

Identify trunk rack

I would like some help in identifying this trunk rack. It came with my 33, but the brackets were obviously incorrect for that year. (I later sourced the correct brackets for 33-34 that curve over the gas tank). The emblem says Packard Eight. My guess is that this rack is for 35-39 range. I believe that an extra hole has been drilled in each bracket.

The speedometer on my 1104 apparently seized up while driving recently, and I will need to remove and send for repair. Before I start the task of removal, I was curious if anyone has experience or suggestions on removal techniques, first, before crawling under the dash and removal by trial and error.
