I haven't ever done it and I don't think the PO ever did. Should I soak it for awhile?

Thanks very much. I have noticed that in going thru the manual, there are parts here and there that appear to be vague. But I'm assuming they wrote it with the intent of the reader being a mechanic, so certain things might be assumed.

I saw that blurb in my manual but wasn't sure if it applied to the air filter also since it does specify to "swish the filler cap in gasoline, then dip it in clean engine oil".
Is gas the only acceptable solution to clean it with? And when "dipping the air filter", do you really dip it or does one pour some oil in and let it drain out the excess?

The subject line says it all. I've had this car for about a year but just got it running recently after getting the fuel tank re-newed.

Thanks BH. I like the look. My wife says it looks like a turtle. I told her I wouldn't "make" her ride in it then.

Thank You one and all for your responses. When I first read that the car I had just purchased was possibly not a Packard, I had worries of being the outcast. I understand that I am starting at about as close to the bottom of the Packard pecking order as is possible, but its a start.

Thanks again for the response to only the first of what I can only imagine will be many threads.

The question is for titling purposes. I understand that Clipper is to Packard as Lincoln is to Ford. But since I have never owned a Lincoln (and don't know if the title would say Ford or Lincoln) and only a Ford, I don't know if the title should list Packard/Ford or Clipper/Lincoln.

Thanks
