Re: 47 Custom Super Clipper Coil

I'm still having issues in getting a suitable connection to this coil. I've inserted and trimmed the wire into the coil as suggested by the helpful folks that have responded to me on this, but the wire can easily be pulled out - there is nothing retaining it even with the boot shoved down as far as it will go. I've tried 7 mm and 8 mm wire, with metal conductors, with no noticeable difference.
So what am I missing or doing wrong here?

Mistake on my part - the little ring you are referring to is on the lanyard of the flashlight that I used to prop the coil up for photo purposes.

The part number for the Coil from my 21st series parts list shows an Autolite CE-3224-US-1
4.1203 Coil and Case Assembly (0394131)

Thanks much for your help and input on this

Here is a picture of a replacement coil that I am installing into my 47 CuSu Clipper. It is an Autolite Coil, connects in the same fashion as the old worn out one. Note the screw-in connector to the coil - how does one connect the coil wire to the coil using this sort of arrangement?

The coil I am installing was supplied by a very reputable Packard parts supplier in the Midwest. It was tested and is operating as it should on their tester.
The connection on the bottom of the coil is similar to the original one - it connects the armored cable from the ignition switch to the coil.No issues there.
My question is with the coil wire going from the coil to the distributor cap - the connection to the cap is your standard arrangement, coil wire With a brass connector that plugs into the distributor cap, but going into the coil, it inserts into a Bakelite piece that then screws into the coil itself. in he portion that screws into the coil there is a small hole that allows the conductor within the coil wire to pass through. How does this wire finish out to where it gives good contact?
Thanks to all who have responded, your help is appreciated.

Coil Connection

Regarding my 47 Custom Super Clipper 7 passenger, I'm installing a NOS coil into the firewall; the coil has a different style connection than the previous one. The replacement coil has a screw-on cap that the cable goes through and inserts into the coil, it does not have the more common connection that one usually sees. There is a small hole in the bottom on the fitting about the size of the conductor in the coil wire.
My question is - what is the correct way to install the coil wire into this device where I am assured of getting a solid connection and circuit from the coil to the distributor? Any tricks or techniques that would help?

trim molding clips - ID and Source

For my 47 21st series 7 passenger sedan, there is a narrow S/S trim molding that goes around the windows. Does anyone have a part number for the little steel clips or fasteners that hold this molding to the door (they go into the channel of the molding and then into holes in the door), or a source for NOS parts, or a contemporary replacement?
