Those are some of the best, clearest, and cleanest dash pics I have seen! Thanks so much for sharing they really help in identifying where things belong. I appreciate you sharing!

So a bit of a update…. I started at the front with my volt meter checking battery cables which checked out. Then checked the carb switch again checked out. Then I contorted myself and began undoing each connection behind the dash whether I felt it needed or not. Cleaned each post, cleaned the nuts and the wire connections. Tried starting the car and success. For now…. Will keep everyone posted and again thanks for all the extremely helpful advice it pointed me in the right direction.

I think you hit the mail on the head! When the headlights come on the AMP meter needle buried itself completely on the discharge side. I checked all the connection on the ignition switch and they are clean with no corrosion. I do feel a short is occurring somehow some where.

Nope they are super clean. Made sure not only are the posts clean but the wiring is clean and in good working order. No corrosion or dirt.

Just a quick addition…. The battery is at full charge and when I reconnect the terminals and flash the voltage regulator I get nothing. No spark… yes I am touching only the battery and generator like the instructions say for a Delco voltage regulator.

We have a new twist to the plot! I checked the ignition switch wiring and connections and all are clean. I then started up the car all was good for about 4 min when I pressed the headlamp switch for the headlights the engine died and I have zero power to the car not even enough juice to light the courtesy lights.

Thanks tomorrow I will do the dreaded maneuver under the dash and check out the GA wiring to see if it is clean. Then move to the starting switch.

Exactly the same for me… when cold all the way to the floor. When warm barely touch it and she fires right up. Unless my dreaded issue occurred and then I get nothing no mater how far down I push the peddle or how many times.

Yea that concerns me as well. Not sure why that happened and it occurred right after I was having issues of not start. Then suddenly I after trying again with the peddle it started and that is when I noticed the puff of white smoke. Hasn’t done it since but car continues to randomly not start whether it’s been running and engine still work or engine cold you never know when you are going to get nothing. Not even the click of a solenoid or anything.
