Fully agree but not economically feasible plus upon inspection it was most likely caused by inappropriate amount of antifreeze as the car came from Canada. Where there is one crack there is bound to be more.

#3 cylinder has a large crack, starting at the exhaust valve seat and working its way down the cylinder.

Hoping someone can help me out. Found out today that my 48 Deluxe 288 engine is on its last leg. Advised to start looking for a replacement. Was hoping someone out there has a spare 288 engine or larger in good working order I can buy off you and install in my car. Sad way to start the season. 😢

Well it popped right off just like you all said it would with no damage to the Stainless Steel. I was able to rubber cement the new one right where the old one was after cleaning up the spot.

Thanks again to everyone with the sage advice!

Thanks! This seems like one of those projects that looks simple at first but quickly becomes a headache. Lol

Does anyone know of a good way to remove the rubber sill plate? I have a replacement I would like to install but need to remove the old first.
