Re: Old pressure drops at red lights

Ok thanks for the replys I think I have a good strategy. The car does have this problem even when cold so its probably not overheating. I'm going to try to adjust the idle and/or carb settings. Then I will try replacing ignition points, condensor, rotor and cap. When I first bought the car I had this problem and changed the plugs and wires and it ran fine. My guess is the car didnt like the adjustment it received from the shop.

I'll post update when completed.

Thanks for the 3 reply so far. So I have had this car for almost a year but only really driven it for 6 months. I would like to let you guys know I really only got this project to practice upholstery, I haven't done much with engines since a small engines class in high school 15 years ago and I am probably a horrible mechanic. I can probably put an additional oil pressure gauge on the line to get an accurate read on driving vs stoped old pressure. As far as a tune up... I had the oil changed this summer at a place that fixed my torsion suspension problems, they also said they adjusted my idle. What exactly would you guys consider a tune up? Is anyone local to Detroit? Thanks for the help!

So I have a 55 patrician, and my oil pressure will drop at red lights. The car starts to shake and when I accelerate the car tends to jump and die. I can easily restart it and get going..could this be a problem with the oil pump? Does anyone make a conversion I could buy? Any help is greatly appreciated!

55 patrician. New owner, dumb questions

My recently purchased patrician has interior water damage including some stiff knobs I dont want to damage.

Anyway here are 3 questions..

Is the only knob that has a pull feature for the headlights, are all the others only supposed to turn?

Also The side (courtesy lights?) On the rear doors are always on when the headlights are on and my tail lights arnt working, but the brake lights do. Are the side door lights always supposed to be on? Maybe something was just wired up wrong?..

I dont have a picture of it but what is the air cylinder looking thing on the inside of the driver side fender behind the wheel well used for?

Thanks for any help

I have discovered my tires are actually L78-15 which are a bit bigger than spec. Hopefully this is the cause of my rubbing issue. Thanks for all the help, this forum is awesome!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I feel much more confident in making this big purchase. If any other 55 patrician owners want to tell me what they are running feel free.

Any idea how I determine if my wheels are the k or L version? And is it normal for the tires to rub at full lock left or right?

I just bought a fixer upper 55 patrician and I an new to using forums so I apologize in advance if I post in the wrong places in the coming weeks.

My question is what size/brand tires do you guys run on your 55 patricians? My car currently has very old cracked tubeless 78 15 sears white walls and at full lock they rub. Is rubbing normal? Are there any good deals I should be aware of?

Thanks, Ryan
