(BTW, another young boy once saw a Packard Twin six and was inspired to build a hot rod version. His name was Enzo Ferrari.) Is it possible to get a stronger crankshaft made for htese engines?

huh? did i say something wrong? i thought they were very strong motors.

I'm considering my options for a hot rod build. Are the 12 cylinder or straight 8 packards strong enough to take supercharging for any serious power levels?
