Is there a paper fuel element to replace the NOS ceramic fuel element on my '56 Four Hundred?

Thank everyone for their input on finding a single action fuel pump. I also stumbled across a Precision M23073 from O'Reilly. They also have an Airtek 6866 and a 23013 that doesn't look like the original but it bolts right up and works just fine.
Since it seems like everyone is using a double action, should I also consider using one as well?

I'm trying to find a single action fuel pump for my '56 374 and when I go to my local parts store and ask for a fuel pump for a"Y" block Ford 392, they look at me like I've lost my mind. The X'Ref list doesn't give me a year nor part numbers for this pump. Does anyone have some part numbers for me to ask my local parts store for? Thanks for your help.

My '56 400 TL just stopped working. I do have voltage on both solenoids but no voltage at the under dash switch and only voltage on the outer terminals of my mechanical brake switch. Where do I check next?

Hans, do you have a part number, name brand or manufacturer for this manual pump?

Thanks for the info. I finally got a chance to get back to replacing the trunk spring. With the help of two friends and another car to pull the spring far enough around to hook it under the post, we were able to manhandle it to get it installed. Yes, it was definitely a PIA.

Replace '56 Four Hundred Trunk Springs

I replaced my trunk springs because the old ones were weak and wouldn't always keep the trunk up; however, when I installed the new springs, the situation is worst now because it doesn't stay up on its own at all.

Is there a certain procedure I need to follow or something else I need to do before or during the installation to ensure they are installed correctly so my trunk will stay up when I open it? I positioned the new springs the same way the old ones were before I removed them. What's the secret??

Ok, no relay needed. I'll give it a try. I now have the 3-prong to 2-prong conversion kit with relay installed so I'll have to uninstall it before I tackle this mod. Thanks.
