Bill,

I sent you the diagram for the top cylinders. I have a 2279-9 in South Dakota and if you don't get to see one on your journey I would be glad to send photo's. This museum may be close enough for you to get to.

Thanks for this explanation. I have connected the vac. adv. correctly but the new problem is that the vac. adv. does not move when a vac. pump is applied. I get no vac. at all indicating a fractured diaphragm. The number on my dist. does not correspond to any number in the Packard parts book. What I was asking is if you had the number from a dist. of similar design that I could get so I can find the correct vac. adv. for this dist. until I can obtain the correct dist. for this engine.

Guscha,

Do you know the distributor number for the distributor that you showed the assembly diagram for?

Does anyone know what Vac. Adv. fits this dist.?
The one I have on is completely open. I do not get any vac. with a vac pump.

I've had Anderson Restoration restore my 49 2279-9. I sold my parts car to an individual that is also having them restore it. I knew it was dis-assembled and they could get measurements. Hope this helps.

First, I find that I don't have an original Dist.

MGL 6003 5D

Now to get this one working properly while I locate and rebuild the right one.

Thanks for all the help.
