Roger:
Thanks for that tip. They did not have it listed, so I wrote to see if they might know of a copy.

1934 Packard Custom Cars catalog

Dear all:

I'd like to obtain a clean hi-res (300dpi or 600 dpi) scan of the 1934 Packard Custom Cars catalog for an article that I have written on these models.

Also, if anyone has period factory photos of any of these cars or a contact from whom I would be able to obtain a couple of photos of these that I am looking for, I'd be very much obliged. Or even a tip on where to look... My sources are lacking on this one.

Sincerely,
rdsieber

Ron:

Very inspiring! Keep up the postings - you are almost done!

Nice to see Speedster interest continued. Am currently researching this model of Packard in the 626 and 734 (and 1106), so this is way cool.

Have you considered the Jesse Vincent racer from 1928 as an inspiration or start point? It would have an authentic Packard look. Pls post photos of where you are in the journey.

BTW and relatively somewhat related to this, have you picked up a copy of Rewind Magazine out of Singapore? Eli Solomon is a friend of mine and its publisher. He covers all sorts of automobilia in SE Asia and gets down to Oz as well. He might interested in your story, as he writes of vintage restorations. Very nice mag!

If you contact him, tell him I sent you.

Cheers,

Thanks for the tip on the Coachbuilder's site. What a lot of work that was!

Hey, guys:

Thanks for the replies and info. West, I will contact you shortly per your info you might have pertaining these cars.

I would like to see an existing model if there is one in the US that is operating that is close to me in NC. In addition, I think it would be cool to see the Macauley concept car up close!

Speedster models question

I'm doing some research on the speedsters that Packard produced in the late 1920s-early 30s.

I read about the 626, the 734, and then the 1106 speedster line of cars. There is some mention in the Kimes Packard book of a Twin Six, but no details er whether it was just a style experiment or an actual production model that sold prior to the 1106 Speedster Twelve.

Does anyone out there have more info on these models? Or a book ref? Or a resto shop that focuses on these, has info, etc. I'd appreciate a contact or some clues on this puzzle.

Thanks!

History Question: Body Shops 1928-31

I was reading the Kimes Packard book in Ch. 20 (pp. 420-425) and was confused by what Packards were made where in the 5, 6, and 7 series, etc.

Addresses were given for the diff body shops. Packard std production, Custom Body, Dietrich, Inc, and Murray Body all produced the standard and semi-custom bodies. I think.

It seems that the 6-cyls and 8-cyls were separated to diff shops, but where did the Twin Sixes go for bodies?

I'm confused. Can anyone out there help? Maybe suggest a book ref?

thanks in advance,
rds
