I just wanted to share some important information with everyone that receives shipments of glass.

I have shipped many Packard windshields and curved back glass items over the years. I always pad them, overpack them, support them, support them some more and then put them in a double walled box. That box goes into a 2x4 framed crate with 3/4” wood walls. I even attached a wood provision to the bottom to make it easy for the truck carriers to move the crate around with a pallet jack or forklift. I put “UP” arrows, and “DO NOT STACK” signs all over on the crate.

Having gone through all that, I still have about 1 in 10 get damaged in transit. Usually crushed from improper stacking, or concealed damage (crate looks fine, but contents damaged) from rough handling by the carrier.

None of us can overcome a rough/careless carrier, so please remember, NEVER sign the carrier drivers bill of lading until you open and inspect the contents. When you encounter package or content damage, note it clearly on the bill of lading before you sign anything. By doing this you will make your life, and the shippers life and claim process much easier.

Its hard enough to hold these carriers accountable and seek reimbursement when you have a well documented bill of lading. And its next to impossible to get anything out of them when you sign and accept, only to find disappointment when you open the box instead of that rare Packard part you were hoping for. By then they are long gone.

Bob,

Thank you for the kind words. One of the things I like best about Packards is the great people we get to meet that own these wonderful vehicles.

Hopefully we can help more folks in the future by providing parts to get their Packard back on the road at affordable prices.

We have over 1,000 Packard related items currently listed on eBay with hundreds of them for just $5.00 plus we have a building full of thousands of more Packard parts that we have not even listed yet.

Here is a link to our eBay items if anyone is interested or please send us an email at Packardssouthwest@gmail.com with any parts that you are looking for.

Thank you, Gerry
