54 Thuderbolt engine

Pierce
I am not a Packard guy. I have a Pierce and numerous other old cars. I am a CCCA member. I am negotiating to buy some stuff and can have a Packard Thunderbolt engine included. I have no use for the motor but like most old car guys when we find a significant piece we try to get it to someone that can use it. The engine appears complete. It says Packard Thunderbolt on top of head. It has carb, intake, heads, exhaust manifold. On the fan in chalk it reads 54 Packard BUT on the side of the block just barely legible there is an old chalk 52 mark so I do not know if it is indeed a 54 or a 52. The guy I am dealing with is in his mid fifties and says his Grandfather had that motor and was always going to put it in an old pickup truck. He says they have probably had the motor for forty years. BUT I can not document any of this. It is on a pallet under roof. First, is there a demand for such and about what is the value. It is located in NC but I am in Atlanta and can haul it down when I haul the stuff I want. Tom
