New book on Amazon.com for 55-56 Enthusiasts!

John McCall and Mitch Parker
A book much needed to assist in documenting in book-form the fabulous V-8 Packards of 1955-56. Lavishly illustrated, primarily in color, this edition is based on the 19 Packards from the V-8 era, and three from other periods of Packard's production. Laced with personal stories, some of them humorous, this is a must for any Packard collector. Make sure you enter the entire title on Amazon "Books" when ordering: "Packard and Clipper, 1955-56: Confessions of a Collector." Happy reading!

These two senior 56 Packard owners deserve trophies for finding and installing this correct material! What a difference. The beautiful seams also tell the story of correct detailing. Unfortunately, authentic restoration of interiors seems to be the weakest link in our art form. I have been guilty myself! Good interiors take (a) money, (b) extensive searches (c) patience, and (d) talented upholsterers!

I have a new in-the-box rear seat hassock for a 56 Four-Hundred in trim code 182: light blue, dark blue, and white leather. They were out there!

So interesting that you could get a leather interior in the Clipper DeLuxe line for 56 but not in the step-up Super. I think Packard was hoping that there might be fleet and livery sales for the lowest priced 56 Packard, thus the availability of hard-wearing leather in that model. The three choices were: white with dark blue, white with dark green, and white with black. Cool or what!?

No way the headliner was of "leather." All factory headliners with leather interiors in 55 were vinyl in a color coordinated to the leather. In 56 they were perforated vinyl.

Thanks. I already knew to offer the BTV rebuilt from Kanter if I went that route. The mechanics all said NO to removing and replacing! Sorry, in my earlier posting I was ambiguous; I meant to say that they will not even entertain the idea of replacing a rebuilt unit!

OK, I am totally lost here since I am about as mechanical as picking out the correct color of jacquard fabric for a Patrician (which I can do). And, speaking of a Patrician, my 56's BTV has gone bad. I, of course, learned long time ago on a failed 56 Clipper to simply pull the brake pedal up, reapply and I was always able to stop safely and fully...if I was not thrown into a panic situation. Obviously, I want to get my brakes back to working safely. What should I do? What do I purchase? I got new calipers and all that assorted stuff not too long ago. I have driven the car maybe only 100 or so miles since then. There seem to be differences of opinion. I need to know the most cost effective and safe thing to do on my Patrician. If the answer is "rebuild the BTV" and go on with life, fine. Just let me know who in the metro Atlanta area would do such a thing. Everyone here around the Palmetto, GA area gives me an emphatic "NO" to rebuilding a treadle vac. Help!

Wanted: good condition stainless garnish moulding that is at the bottom of the metal wood-grained door sill (left [driver's] side) and 2 cloisonne hubcaps with good centers.
