Valve adjustments

Hi can some body help ,I have a 1953 Packard clipper 327 straight 8 just lapped in the valves ready to adjust tappets which are mechanical tappets engine no L3XXXXXX,Can somebody tell me a easy way to adjust the tappets and what is the gauge for exhaust and inlet valves cheers tara

Hi larry 51, The engine is firing but will not catch ,spark at points plugs checked leads they are ok .Putting fuel in carb manually through top of carb not using pump at the moment till tank is cleaned out Thanks for the help

Been working on my Packard for long time now and not get very close to finishing it .
It was laid up for 32 years Ive removed the head and re seated valves,cleaned carb out replaced points leads,condenser, coil.now got it to fire but will not run
any help would be appreciated please

Hi i have a packard clipper 1953 i was thinking of doing the 12 volt conversion because of the problems of cranking over very slow ,if i put a 12 volt battery and coil it will fire up replace with the 6 volt and there s no spark at the point s and turns over slow ,if i can get some info on this i will leave it 6 volts

hi Ross, thank you for your reply, we would be interested even if the starting motor isn't operational as we can get it fixed. could you let me know how much you would want for the unit and shipping.
