The missing link to Chevrolet's mystery engine 1963?

For Chevy lovers the Mark III is the missing link. A road to nowhere.
Elsewhere in this Forum it is told, the Chevrolet Mark III is the Packard 1955 V8. Is the Chevrolet Mark II (Keinath) the successor of the Witzky Hemi, some Kind of Patent Evasion? Or was the Packard Witzky patent sold to GM, when Studebaker ended? Who knows!

Diesel injection
Sorry Mr Guscha, I ignored the updraft carb. In the patent drawings from M. Ware and J. Witzky you could clearly see the injection pump. Maybe you are right and the model is from the late 20's.

Could be a model of the Diesel car engine from the engineers
M. Ware, R. Taylor and J. Witzky ____________________________________________________________ SAE International Technical Paper The New Packard Lightweight Diesel Engines Paper #: 540248 Published: 1954-01-01 DOI: 10.4271/540248 Citation: Ware, M., Taylor, R., and Witzky, J., "The New Packard Lightweight Diesel Engines," SAE Technical Paper 540248, 1954, doi:10.4271/540248. Author(s): M. Ware R.E. Taylor J. Witzky Affiliated: Packard Motor Car Co. Abstract: THE new Packard automotive diesel engine is reported to feature reductions in weight and space occupied, while maintaining good life expectancy. It is available in 6-cyl in-line, V8, V12, and V16 models. These models all have a large number of interchangeable parts. They all have the same bore and stroke. According to the authors, noteworthy points of these engines include: 1. Extensive use of aluminum. 2. Turbosupercharging. 3. One-piece cylinder and head assembly. 4. Four valves per cylinder, with stellite seating surfaces on valves and seats in the head. ____________________________________________________________ Maybe the model has a one-piece cylinder and head assembly. Is there anybody, who has access to the whole SAE papers?

Thank you very much for the explanation.
Is there a good source (Book) or where can I get digital press articles about Packard Research & Development? Maybe old magazines like Packard Cormorant, which I do not know.

Was there ever a Packard V12 engine prototype and/or car prototpye developed under John Reinhart? When I look at the Lincoln Continental Mark II and the too long engine compartment, its obvious John Reinhart brougth it over to Ford, when Packard did not build it.
Does anybody know more?
