I was reading some of the older post in the forum when I came across your question about the Clipper hood ornament. Seems that no one had the correct answer for you. Having owned and worked on Packards since the 1950,s, I know them inside and out. The 55-56 Clipper ornament was to be a symbol of the 25,000 mile durability test for the new Packard V8, which was a trip equal to one around the world. Thanks, Walt
