Just can't stay away

Bob
Manual states Oil Capacity Crankcase on single six is 2-1/4 Gal then states Additional oil over level necessary to make rods dip is 1 1/2 gal
Does that mean a total of 3-3/4 gal total in the Crankcase ?
Thanks
