Yeah that looks like a BIG project for sure, challenging for even an experienced restorer. I say this because I don't want you to feel too bad giving up this potential project. IMHO it's best to start with something mostly intact but non-functional, so getting it going is the only necessary challenge. In the Packard world even these are cheap (not buying a barn find '55 T-bird for example).

It's tough to find cars to fix up at the right "difficulty level" for a beginner. The easy flips tend to get bought up the fastest, after all. Just wanted to chime in my and best of luck with any future projects.

Appreciate the words of encouragement. I am definitely still interested in one. Mike was able to get it picked up last weekend. I will miss it, but happy it went to a Packard guy.

Bought this a few years ago, and it's just too big of a project for me. Does not have a title but I have some old registration slips and various other paperwork.

For Free, Yes Im serious.

Car is located in Redwood City California. 94062

Here is an album from when I purchased it. I vacuumed it out and covered it. No other work has been done.

Edit: Here's a post I made when I first purchased the car.

Yea that was my plan. The sidemounts just arent my style. The wheels are definitely going away.

Thank you for the links, I'll read into them a bit and see what I want to do. For now I'm trying to accumulate parts for the rebuild

howdy, no i'm gonna try and squeeze some power out of this 282 first, if I blow it up then i'll go for the 9 main. However I dont really know where to start, im thinking the dual carburetor manifold, maybe some head work, custom cam, i dunno but i need more power lol

Hey guys my name is E.J. and I recently purchased this car. Its pretty dang rough now but in due time I hope to have it back to its original luster. I'm 28 and this is my first major project car. From what i've gathered its a really rare body style and with the dual sidemounts even more rare.

I have many visions for how I would like to see the car, but I'd like to keep the original motor, and try and squeeze as much out of it as I can. I've been in touch with Flackmaster already so I hope to get some hard to find parts through him.

As far as suspension goes I'd love to see it laying on the ground but I know that wont sit well with the purists nor will removing the sidemounts which I also want to do. At this stage I just dont know the direction i'd like to take. One thing I do know for sure is that its never getting a small block chevy motor. Either this motor i have now, or a 9 main bearing straight 8 out of the later model.

Anyways I'll update as I go along but its gonna be slow haha

On to the pictures...
