#2

I recently (attempted to) rebuild my fuel pump(it's an acdelco the stamp on the lip is 9920B1) for my 51'. Everything went ok until i slipped up and dropped the mechcanical fuel pump arm and it came apart. The problem i have is, there isn't any instructions of how to put it together again Honestly the kit that i came with hand no instructions so im completely stuck. So my question is does anyone have a diagram of how to put together the mechcanical fuel pump arm that connects to the diaphram. (pictures attached) the at the bottom of the pic are the replacement parts the chrome ones but i want to put back the orginal arm.

I'm looking to replace my wires and spark plugs in the old 51 in hopes of getting it fired up. I'm not sure of what type or size plugs and wires to get. Or what gap the plugs are to be set to. If anyone can help I'll appreciate it. Locally there is a napa, autozone, and Oriely's. Thanks

Still having problems starting my 51

I posted earlier and I got allot of good advice about how to get my 51 started. I bridged the carb starter hooked up the 6volt battery(the right way) turned the key. I then bridged the larger lug on the solenoid (from the battery) to the little lug on the solenoid with a jumper cable and it worked! The old girl kicked but then...nothing. I tried again but nothing not a sound, not a kick, nothing. Any suggestions. I'm trying to back track everything that i've done prior to login in to get help. I replaced the starter solenoid(new), new coil, good 6volt battery.

I have a few questions.

1)Is there a front or back to the starter solenoid when i installed it I assumed that the writing on it represented the front of the soleniod. Is that correct?

2)My battery is only about 55% to 70% capacity would that still be enough at least to get it started.

Thanks in advance!

connected the wires turned the key and nothing. Quick question on starting the 51. Do I need to put my foot on the break to get it started. Another thing if My breaks are completely shot does it matter if I use the break to start the car or not. Thanks in advance
