Successful restoration of Drum Headlights. I now have one complete assembly. The can and lenses came from Australia, the ring from E-bay, the reproduction lens from Henry Yeska, the lens clips and light sockets from Restoration Supply, and small pieces from helpful members of this forum.
I had to manufacture the clip on the bottom of the ring from a brass strip. I removed the reflector socket receipticals and installed light sockets that have direct screw attachments so I can feed the light wires into the can through a rubber grommet rather than a quick disconnect as it was originally made. I did not install the original lamp adjusting mechanism inside the can since the new lamp sockets are fixed but placed similar screws and nuts in the holes on the back of the can. I found lens clips at Restoration Supply and had Olson's Gaskets make me a cork gasket to fit between the reflector and lens. Art Brass in Seattle did some restoration of the can to remove dents and solder some cracks and niclkle plated and polished the lights. I am waiting for a second reflector from Henry Yeska and I will have a complete set of lights for my '28 526.
