Fourth series Six would have been a Delco #4009; prior and following series 6-cylinder were Delco #5249 and Delco #656J.

My first call would be to Kanter Auto Parts, they have literally tens of thousands of parts they've probably not even inventoried - perhaps you can get someone to go search. Second call would be to the places that specialize in rebuilding distributors - they advertise in hardcopy Hemmings; Jason at AER would be one such supplier.

Of course you're right, the further back you go, the harder it is to find parts. And the majority of folks on this forum are into far newer cars as well so your chances of getting a hit here are fairly slim, ditto for The Packard Club forum. An approach you might consider which has worked well for me on obscure parts is to go thru your Packard Club Directory, find the folks with your identical car, and start making contact by telephone - many folks with cars of that vintage that actually tour in them tend to keep ahead of the need by buying spares whenever they are found at reasonable prices and tend to have substantial inventories of parts. I've done much the same with my '34 for years now. And you'll reach the entire Packard Club membership by putting an ad in their monthly newsletter - and that's free to members.
At Kanter you really want to talk to Fred, he best knows what is in their non-cataloged inventory.
