The First through Third Series Eights on 136" wheelbase included a two passenger Runabout; the lightest weight model other than the four passenger Sport touring. For the Third Series, the engine was enlarged from 357.8 ci/ 85hp to 384.8 ci/109hp. Before the 626 and 734 Speedsters, the 336 Runabout was in specification a high-performance model.
What brought this to attention is a thread posted on the PAC Forum: packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5387 Although I have no interest personally in its coming sale, this has to be one of the most desirable Classic Era Packards. Its a fine example of what the wealthy, rakish young blade drove with enthusiasm in that period. Steve

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive. |
