According to the booklet "Introducing the Packard Light Eight", 4 & 3/4 gallons. That's roughly about 19 litres.

Yes I know, but when adding coolingfluid you cannot see how much is already inside.

Yup, just add water/fluid/whatever until it's about 3/4" to 1" inch(about 18 to 25 mm) below the bottom of the radiator filler neck. No need to fill to full as the system will likely "spit out" the excess if filled too much.

When coolant is not visible in the upper tank, jacking up the rear of the car can give you an indication of how full the system is.

Seems like a lot of effort for a very small result.

Rontom,
A short wooden dowel, 6-7 inches long mark it in 1/2 inch increments, keep it in the glove box. 1 1/2 to 2 inch above the top of the tubes is good. John

Sorry I might be doing this wrong, but I stick index finger in between the first and second knuckle when it is cold, if its wet I can go for a decent ride without worrying
I keep a gal of premix in the trunk

Ever wonder whatever happened to those canvas bags you would fill up and hang on the front of the car before crossing the deserts in the Southwest?
Yep as suspected, they were all horded so they could show up on EBay. You would figure that for $110.00 the seller would al least offer free shipping.
