Napa Gold 1080 filter

I'm getting ready to get things together to change the oil in the 1941 1908. I found here in the forums that NAPA 1080 oil filter is what I need or a Wix 51080. I went on line to see if the NAPA around the corner from my garage has them in stock. It does, but in the one review, which is fairly recent, the reviewer says that NAPA recently changed suppliers for the filter and that instead of coming with a rubber O ring it now comes with a fiber gasket. In that reviewer's case, he indicated he ended up reusing the old O ring. Pictures of the Wix on other parts sites would seem to indicate they too have that fiber washer. My question is, has anyone run into any issues or problems with that fiber gasket or is that reviewer just talking out his butt? Going back to that reviewer, he said the fiber gasket was difficult to work with. Just thinking ahead here. Forewarned is forearmed.

I think you have your answer from someone (above) who knows, but the last two NAPA Gold Filter 1080s I bought have a black gasket. It feels kind of rubbery, but it seems to have some texture. I used one last month to change the oil and have had no problems. I don't think it was ever an O ring, but always a flat rubber gasket.

Funny, I was just fixin' to change the oil in the new car and had begun to wonder what to use for a filter, and then this thread pops up. Allah does provide.

Seems to me I bought a Wix filter for the old Ford tractor last year and I had to purchase the gasket - rubber - separately. Maybe that's apples-n-oranges.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.
