Id like to install a pair of driving lamps on my 1949 Deluxe, but I am unsure as to where they should be installed. Where do they attach to the front and where should I run the wires, etc?

The photo of my 47 Custom Clipper may help you in locating the lamps on your 49. I'll let others here help you with the wiring, but it should not be too difficult of a job. I mounted a pair of after market fog light on my 115C Convertible Coupe, and it was an easy job.

My Clipper came with the optional fog lights and the wiring. They are operated by a 'Fog Light' switch on the instrument panel.

Fog and driving lights are different in the type of beam they project and where they are mounted. Fog lights want to be low on the car. If you are looking for better driving lights why not get a pair of 6-volt halogen bulbs? Fog lights would be a nice addition too, but probably more for looks than function.

There are several photos of front ends with driving lights in the 1948 accessory brochure here.

You will need to get a push-switch to install behind the chrome fog light button. They do show up on eBay fairly regularly or check with the vendors.

I would recommend that you wire the lamps through a relay to spare the switch. I also installed a relay on my '47's headlamps to save that rare and expensive switch also.

Here's a picture of the front of my car. I could get you some dimensions if you like as to mounting position. Send me a pm. As far as wire routing, don't know, these are a original to the car.

I think your best best is to download the accessories brochure from this sight. Looks like they should be centered at the joint of the center grille

"Driving lamps". The dash out of my 48 2262 parts car has a button labeled "FOGLITE". Nothing that says "Driving". I'm not trying to be critical. I'm just trying to be specific relative to parts identification to avoid confusion. I'm not real familiar with the 48's.

The accessory catalogue calls them "Fog and Road Lights". Usually that stuff is listed in a separate parts list.

I would like to add amber fog or clear driving lamps to my 1941 Model One Twenty Coupe Convertible. Does anyone know which lights were correct in 1941 and where I might find a pair?
