I opened my trunk and now it will not lock shut? I have removed the latch mechanism and for the life of me I cannot figure out how this thing works. Any help would be appreciated. Nothing on the latch appears broken?

Thank you! l did check and everything seems as it should. I tried adjusting the striker plate but it is fixed with no adjustment. I thought about cutting slots but I the latch has never given me an issue. It was working fine and now it's not?

Fixed! There was a burr/wear mark catching the latch. Disassembled and cleaned it up with a file. Reinstalled and working fine. Crazy!
