Type F. I am guessing that low viscosity fluid is causing low pressures. You could thicken up your existing fluid by adding a bottle Lucas transmission magic. It is very helpful. Curious as to your reasons for choosing synthetic--did you just come into a large sum of money?

Pat at Pat's Transmission did the rebuilds. I gave him your name and number yesterday. I drove it yesterday for the first time in 14 months.

I can't answer for the original poster but personally I would use synthetic in a heartbeat over petroleum regardless of cost. That is, I would use it if it had no adverse affect on the transmission or its functionality so I wonder if during a rebuild it is possible to do the work with synthetic in mind. I'm about to send off a Gearstart Ultramatic so would be nice to know!

The benefit of getting rid of our dependency on petroleum products. It has to start somewhere!

You are aware that synthetic oils are made from natural gas?
