I would post this in the V8 forum instead of the Project Blog forum, you'll get more responses.

The pattern is slightly different between 1955 and 1956 senior Packards. Kits for 1956 seniors that are an extremely close match to the originals are or at least were until recently available from Patrician Industries in Michigan, not sure if they offer the 55 kits.

55-6 are close but not the same pattern. To the best of my knowledge no one is reproducing the exact pattern for either. There is a mid 50's Ford-Merc liner fabric that is similar in the checks to 56 but has larger open squares in a repeating pattern and probably still available as material. There are also some Studebaker houndstooth patterns which have no repeating squares & might be similar.. No idea on the cardboard pieces.

Here's a comparison of the current 56 senior reproduction trunk liner kit material (upper) and the original (dirty and aged), lower. Probably about as close as you're going to get, but not exact.

That's an incredible match for the 56-- you're sure right about that. Certainly not the one I saw the picture of. Was the cardboard sides part of your replacement or just the mats?
Anyone got a picture of a 55 liner to contribute and compare??

A while back I talked to someone about the kit for a 56, he said that his wife makes the kits as ordered. You might get in touch with her about what you are looking for. I believe their email is "packards1@aol.com. Good luck.

HH, Sue's kit was a mix of floor-mat type material and the cardboard-backed, much like the original with mat floor and gas filler box, cardboard sides, etc. Also with the extra "box" at the rear of both sides if you have dual antennas. I was very satisfied.
When I got mine for a Carib, her kit was patterned after the 400 kit but upon request she send me the extra material NC needed to make a Carib kit. I understand now that you can specify which model you want it for. The Carib and 400 really only differ in how the inner upright sides of the hinge support metal is covered. Whether or not she has found a material to do the 55s I don't know.
