Almost directly in the center of the hood on my caribbean is a dent. I can pop it out by pushing it from underneath the hood but it returns all by it self after a while. Is there a brace that should somewhere to prevent this. I think the weight of the scoops is causing this. These hoods are very heavy.

Even though it was a stamped hood instead of leaded, the 56 hoods had a brace down the center. IIRC from a discussion some time back here or AACA, believe the consensus was 55s had the prop rod but did not have a center piece. Perhaps you could do something like the 56 did with the brace except perhaps bolt it at each end with padding toward the sheet metal and keep all hidden under your blanket.

Does your hood have a horizontal brace about midway on the inside?

I can feel something under the pad. I assume it is probably a brace. It seems to go from scoop to scoop. If this is meant to correct the problem, it is a bust.
