Justification for the bright orange and brown choice is cited as an period advertisement art which the owner had.
Advertising artist frequently took 'artistic license' with not only proportions but also colors which would grab attention on the page but weren't generally available. Bets are driving around in a bright orange roadster would have made you the talk of the town in 1929...
