Seeing this on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Packard-1951-54-Conversion-Kit-Auto-to-Manual-w-R-11-O-D-Trans-Steering-Column-/111217495937?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e5144f81&vxp=mtr

Wouldn't you need to change the drive shaft, or rear end too? There are electric items too that need to be replaced and added.

Is that all?

There appears to be quite a few things missing on this auction item. I did not see the column extension and gear shift, or anything having to do with the overdrive. You would have to change out the steering column to remove the automatic gear indicator. This could end up being really expensive and when you added up all of the costs, it might be cheaper just to buy a rebuilt Ultramatic.

If you are really interested in ditching the Ultramatic, maybe you should read some the previous posts regarding changing over to the Chysler AT or Hydromatic.

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

But it sounds better than "random collection of worn out parts".

Here is a different take on automatic, or electric in this case, to manual.
