Anyone have any good suggestions for steering wheel restoration? I have a 1941 Packard 160 that needs some TLC with respect to the steering wheel. Looking for reputable restoration companies. Thanks.

You might want to take a look at www.qualityresterstrations.com there is a whole section on Packard wheels that he dose, and his work is guaranteed for the life of the wheel. I had one done for a Pontiac in clear which is tuff to do and it was fabulous. Give Dennis a call he is very easy to speak to and knowledgeable. Not cheap put very well worth the money.

I just had one done by Koch. I had a horrible dash woodgraining experience with sending it out, and Koch was local (So Cal). I did try Dennis (very good guy - chatted for a while with me), but he didn't have the 110 jig or the softer compound. So, I went with Koch who was even closer to me. Cheaper and came out better than I expected, and I'm anal. It is the bakelite/hard version now. I may pick up a softer compound wheel later and patch. Mine was toast.

Hi folks,
I'm new to the forum and finally getting back into finishing a restoration of my '32 902 phaeton after a (very) long hiatus. Everything about accessing information has changed SO much in the last 20 years!
My steering wheel is in need of a rebuild and I'm finding that many of the links provided below, (10+ years old) are no longer valid. Anyone have a recent experience with steering wheel restoration? Needless to say, it would be great to find someone who already has the correct mold for this vehicle.

Ross has posts on here about how to recoat the wheel without breaking the bank. I forget his method but you basically just fill the plastic then kinda paint it.
